It’s really true that in order to get the best possible photograph you have to go the extra mile (or half mile as the case may be).
Originally I grabbed the camera and one lens, and just started shooting in the street outside the house. This provided some OK shots, certainly good enough to remember the eclipse with, but I wanted better.
As the light available kept fading and the sun kept falling I moved further and further up the street, trying to keep my lens in the light.
I was about to call it quit as the last light faded from view when two young women riding by on bycicles told there was a good spot around a couple corners. I decided to run, and I’m glad I did. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t have gotten this shot, and I wouldn’t have been satisfied at all.
